Floriculture Professor Gets AwardDr. Jim Metzger, Floriculture professor in the Department of Horticulture and Crop Science at The Ohio State University has received an award from the American Society for Horticultural Science. This award is for the most outstanding paper on horticultural cross-commodity research, including broadly applicable methodology, pre- and postharvest physiology, genetics, anatomy, morphology, ecology, crop production systems, modeling, and management. The manuscript, titled "Modification of Plant Architecture in Chrysanthemum by Ectopic Expression of the Tobacco Phytochrome B1 Gene" was published in the Journal of the American Society for Horticultural Science. The authors were Z. L. Zheng, Z. Yang, J. C. Jang, and J.D. Metzger. Zhi-liang (John) Zheng was a PhD student of Dr. Metzger, while Drs. Yang and Jang are faculty members and on John's Graduate Student Advisory Committee. The work was fully funded by the D.C. Kiplinger Endowment for Floriculture. |
