Poinsettia Trials. Mark your calendar now! Five growers (Dieffenbacher in Cincinnati; Dill in Columbus; Barco in Medina; Bostordff in Bowling Green; and Krueger in Toledo) are growing 50 cultivars from four poinsettia breeders: Dummen, Ecke Ranch, Fischer, and Oglevee. Each grower will have an open house for you to see and evaluate the plants on the following dates: Cincinnati, 11/16; Columbus, 11/17; Medina, 11/18; Bowling Green, 11/19; and Toledo, 11/19. There will also be an open house at OSU soetime in December. More information next month.
Germany Tour. Join OFA's Guided Tour of Essen, Germany and surrounding areas. January 30 - February 6, 2000. The tour will include a visit to the largest floriculture trade show in the world in Essen plus several greenhouse production facilities and garden centers. The tour is limited to one bus. A space will be reserved for the first 42 people who send the completed registration form and $500 to OFA. The cost for members is only $2,150 plus airfare to Chicago. Pesticide Application Workshop. February 29 and March 1st, 2000 (one day and a half). Location: Ohio Agricultural Research Development Center, Wooster, OH. Targeted audience: advanced greenhouse growers, extension agents, greenhouse equipment and material suppliers.
