1. Marathon II (Olympic Horticultural Products). Marathon II is a liquid imidacloprid formulation that can be applied as a foliar spray to greenhouse and ornamental plants. In addition to ornamentals, the Marathon II label allows application to vegetable plants in the greenhouse grown for transplanting (not vegetables for greenhouse production). It is also registered for use in interior plantscapes. The REI is 12 hours. Marathon II is intended for use on shorter-term crops on which the use of Marathon 1G or 60WP formulations is not practical. Growers can expect 14 to 21 days control from an application. When applied to foliage as a spray, the systemic activity is not nearly as great as when allied to the potting media and taken up by plant roots.

2. Confirm (Rohm & Haas). Confirm (tefufenozide) is an insect growth regulator that accelerates molting of Lepidopera larvae (caterpillars). The mode of action is different from other insect growth regulators. Confirm is registered on greenhouse and interior plantscape ornamentals for control of pests such as beet armyworms and cutworms. Cabbage loopers are not included on the ornamentals pest list but are on other labeled crops. The REI is 4 hours.

3. Scimitar GC (Zeneca) Scimitar is a formulation of lambda-cyhalothrin, which was formerly registered on greenhouse crops under the name Topcide. It is a synthetic pyrethroid labeled on greenhouse ornamentals for control of a wide range of insect and mite pests. Scimitar is a restricted use pesticide with a REI of 24 hours. Scimitar is an advanced water-based formulation which is supposed to combine the ease of handling a liquid concentrate formulation with the residual activity of wettable powders.
