You and growers across the U.S.A. will receive a survey in late December. This survey, the 1998 Census of Horticultural Specialties, is critical to growers' future. It collects detailed information about the horticultural industry, including floriculture, nursery plants and other specialty horticultural crops. The USDA conducts this census once every ten years. Covering not only the major floriculture crops, it includes questions on many minor species of cut flowers and cut greens, potted flowering plants, foliage plants, and bedding garden plants.
To ensure that an accurate picture is taken, growers must be counted in this important survey. Census results will play a critical role in many decisions. Results will:
