The U.S. EPA has approved a label revision for A-Rest plant growth regulator. Important label improvements include:
1) "Open label" which allows for the use of A-Rest on any potted ornamental crop both in the greenhouse or outside. The label will suggest rate guidelines for some specific species. For plants not listed, the user should run initial trials on a small number of plants to determine optimum rates.
2) Addition of specific crops such as Pansy, Begonia, Impatiens, Portulaca, and Snapdragon.
3) Rate suggestions at different growth stages of the plant such as plug state, after transplanting, and in the finished stage.
4) Chemigation. The new label will allow for application of A-Rest through irrigation equipment. This will make application through irrigation booms to plugs legal.
5) Better defined rates and better definition of application timing.
