Slow Sand Filtration for Control of Plant Pathogens in Irrigation Water: a Novel Breakthrough for Agriculture. July 15, 1999. 8:45 AM - 2:30 PM. Fisher Auditorium, OARDC, Wooster, OH. During the past five years, European greenhouses and nurseries have begun to install slow sand filtration systems that economically remove plant pathogens from irrigation water. Dr. Walter Wohanka from the Department of Plant Pathology at Geisenheim, Germany has developed this breakthrough. He is the featured speaker at a workshop at OSU funded by the Ohio Florists' Association, the Ohio Nursery and Landscape Association, and The Ohio State University. He will be available for consultation with growers on installation aspects.
